On board Vessel Fire Fighting Communication
The Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), in its 91st session adopted the following amendment to SOLAS regulation II-2/10 regarding fire fighters’ communication:
“For ships constructed on or after 1 July 2014, a minimum of two two-way portable radiotelephone apparatus for each fire party for fire-fighter's communication shall be carried on board. Those two-way portable radiotelephone apparatus shall be of an explosion-proof type or intrinsically safe. Ships constructed before 1 July 2014 shall comply with the requirements of this paragraph not later than the first survey after 1 July 2018.“
TSS is pleased to introduce a fire fighting radio communication solution to help users comply with the above regulation and provide reliable, fuss free communication during fire fights.
The solution consists of:

- 2 x Heavy Duty PTT adapter
Portable Radio

Depending on the needs of the customer, the portable radio would be either an ATEX or IS radio, on the UHF or VUF frequency band.

The bone conductive throat microphone fits easily into existing fire fighting breathing apparatus and provides clear audio reception in a noisy environment.
Heavy Duty PTT Adapter

The PTT adapter consists of a large button to allow ease of use for the user even when wearing fire retardant gloves.
